PUBLIC NOTICE OF APPLICATIONS FOR RESOURCE CONSENT

Section 95 Resource Management Act

Environment Waikato (Waikato Regional Council), Thames-Coromandel District Council, Hauraki District Council and Matamata-Piako District Council have received applications for resource consents under the Resource Management Act 1991 from Waikato Regional Council (Hamilton Office). The nature of the applications under the jurisdiction of each authority is identified as follows. The applications include an Assessment of Environmental Effects (AEE).

All activities identified in the applications requiring resource consents under regional and district council plan rules are included in the following consent applications;


Environment Waikato

Proposal: to carry out works within streams and rivers to maintain channels. The works would be undertaken within four areas that together cover the Waihou Catchment.

The specific activities are:

120925 - Area 1 (Thames/Paeroa) - river/stream works within the beds & floodplains of w/ways-place, construct & use erosion control structures, gravel relocation, gravel/silt extraction & placement on the floodplain, vegetation removal;

120926 - Area 1 (Thames/Paeroa) - diversions of river/stream flows associated with placement of gravel/silt within floodplains of waterways;

121427 - Area 2 (Waihi) - river/stream works within the beds & floodplains of w/ways- place, construct & use erosion & sediment control structures, gravel relocation, gravel/silt extraction & placement on the floodplain, vegetation removal;

121428 - Area 2 (Waihi) - diversions of river/stream flows associated with placement of gravel/silt within floodplains of waterways;

121429 - Area 3 (Te Aroha) - river/stream works within the beds & floodplains of w/ways- place, construct & use erosion & sediment control structures, gravel relocation, gravel/silt extraction & placement on the floodplain, vegetation removal;

121430 - Area 3 (Te Aroha) - diversions of river/stream flows associated with placement of gravel/silt within floodplains of waterways;

121431 - Area 4 (Tirau) - river/stream works within the beds and floodplains of w/ways- place, construct & use erosion & sediment control structures, gravel relocation, gravel/silt extraction & placement on the floodplain, vegetation removal;

121432 - Area 4 (Tirau) - diversions of river/stream flows associated with placement of gravel/silt within floodplains of waterways,

all in the vicinity of or within the Waihou River and its tributaries, generally located as left.

Thames-Coromandel District Council

RMA/2010/30 - Area 1 (Part) Thames Paeroa and Area 2 (Part) Waihi
To undertake public works (soil conservation, river control and storm response works) in those zones which adjoin the relevant streams and rivers of the Waihou Catchment. These zones are the Rural Zone, Housing Zone, Open Space Zone and Recreation Zone.

Consent is sought for the removal of indigenous vegetation for riparian management activities and to exceed the permitted earthworks standards relating to volume, area and face height in a floodway and the relevant adjoining zones. These works include temporary stockpiles of up to 5000m3.

An application to undertake to undertake soil conservation and river control works (including storm response works) in the Light Industrial Zone, Martha Mineral Zone and Karangahake Gorge Zone; and, application to undertake public works (soil conservation and river control works), earthwork exceeding 2000m3, and create temporary stockpiles of up to 5000m3 in the Rural Zone;

An application for soil conservation and river control works including modification of watercourses, earthworks, excavation, depositing of material, removal of indigenous/ other vegetation within 20m of a stream, and placement of new structures; within the Kaitiaki (Conservation), Rural, and Residential Zones and on land within the reserve “overlay” of the Matamata-Piako District Plan (including land within the Te Aroha Township).

An application for soil conservation and river control works within the Kaitiaki (Conservation) and Rural Zones, including modification of watercourses, earthworks, excavation, depositing of material, removal of indigenous/ other vegetation within 20m of a stream, and placement of new structures.
