Last month Hauraki District Libraries introduced ebooks and audiobooks to download using OverDrive. The OverDrive platform allows library customers to borrow audiobooks and ebooks for use on their own electronic devices. We are very excited to be able to offer our members access to this new service.
Hauraki has formed an online library called NOVe-L (Northern Virtual E-Library) with nine other libraries from Hawke’s Bay north. The NOVe-L group is making electronic copies of more than 300 books available to Hauraki library users in the initial collection, with more titles to be added in coming months.
NOVe-L users will need to install free OverDrive Media Console software to download titles and have Adobe software to read ebooks on their computer or mobile device. Both ebooks and audiobooks are compatible with a wide range of devices, with the Kindle being the exception.
