OPEN  INVITATION

Hauraki Older Persons’ Endeavour

The International Day of Older Persons on 1st October was set up by the United Nations. It aims to promote older people in a positive light, illustrating the many ways in which we contribute to society, the economy, to our neighbours and families, and to the social stability of our communities.

Hauraki has good reason to celebrate. We remember the contribution of older people across our district. This year HOPE, the Hauraki wide forum for the Over 55s, has brought together a programme of activities that are happening on and around 1st October.

As part of the International Day of the Older Persons the Hauraki District Council is holding a computer class in each of the district libraries followed by an afternoon tea in the memorial hall. Sport Waikato will also be in attendance to give some healthy living tips and Te Korowai Hauora O Hauraki will be sharing some tips on nutrition and ageing well. Staff from Council will be there to update you on Council’s 10 year plan.
