Honour for the Mayor

The Mayor of Hauraki, John Tregidga, has received an honour in the New Year Honours, announced on New Year’s Eve.

Mayor Tregidga received a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit award, which for those of us that are still entrenched in the past, is the equivalent of the old MBE.

The award is for service to Local Government and the community and recognises the contribution that Mr Tregidga has made, not only in Hauraki but also throughout the region. Mayor Tregidga is the chairman of the Hauraki Gulf forum and is highly respected in Local Government affairs throughout the Waikato where he has had major input for over twenty years. Hauraki can be justly proud of these achievements.
