LTP update - Rates bill goes bi-annual
Hear from Mayor Toby Adams as he talks about the adoption of the 2024-2034 Long Term Plan and what that means for our ratepayers and residents.
Adoption of the 2024-2034 Love This Place Long Term Plan
On 27 June 2024, we adopted our Long Term Plan. It’s our key planning document that outlines our work programme and strategic direction for the next ten years. This came into effect on 1 July 2024.
During the feedback period we received some great suggestions and comments, which really helped with our decision-making. After listening to everyone’s thoughts and ideas, we made some key decisions. You can read about the key decisions regarding the Western Plains Primary Stopbanks; the Waihī Art Centre and Museum and some changes to the Fees and Charges Policy; The Rates Remission and Postponement Policies and the Development Contributions Policy on our community engagement platform Kōrero Mai Lets Talk Hauraki.
Change to frequency of land rates bill
The average rates increase remains at 17.4 per cent and in an effort to save on costs and increase efficiencies, rates bills will change from quarterly instalments to bi-annual instalments. You'll receive your first land rates bill in October, followed by the second one in April next year. Water bills are also bi-annual, (except if you are on the very high water use bi-monthly schedule).
