Current Jobs Available
Happy New Year from Jesse at Gr8 Job Hauraki. Welcome to 2021!
With a new year comes new opportunities and we are all about ‘Local Jobs for Local People’. If you are looking for a job, we have a few in the Hauraki district that we want you to know about now.
Kiwi fruit pickers - Do you enjoy the great outdoors? The Kiwifruit picking season is about to start early March and companies definitely want to hire short term workers. Transport to/from could be available. Eastpack in Katikati for the 20/21 kiwifruit season.
Lawn mowing - Also in the outdoors. If you're looking for something that could lead to full-time and potentially a business opportunity, we have a part-time lawn mowing position available.
Electrical - Would you like a career in the electrical industry? There's an opening for an apprentice electrician. We're on the lookout for someone who would be passionate about the trade, keen to learn and loves living in the Hauraki District.
Cafe positions - Are you interested in the hospitality industry? There is a part-time position to work not only in one but across two cafes (situated close to each other) in a rural location.
Factory work - If you would like to belong to a dynamic and fun workplace with a great team culture we have two casual starting positions at a fast growing pet food factory in Paeroa. These positions have potential to become permanent.
ALSO – the following jobs are also on the market and are all permanent positions:
- Dairy Farm Assistants x2
- Hardware check-out team member
- Landfill Operator (at least class 2 licence)
- Delivery Driver (at least class 2 licence)
- Trade Purchasing Officer

Driving Local Employment Recovery
At Hauraki District Council, we are doing everything we can to support community recovery after Covid 19 to improve community wellbeing and employment outcomes. A successful application was made to Local Government and under the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs (MTFJ) programme we now have a great opportunity to drive local employment recovery. The priority target of MTFJ is young people not currently in employment, education or training and those out of work due to Covid 19. This is very welcome considering job-seeker numbers in our district are significantly up from this time last year.
We have appointed a Community Employment Liaison officer who will engage with employers to encourage the development of work opportunities for those currently unemployed. Potential employees will be identified by reaching out to connect with the community and working in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development. By matching potential employee and employer, we will work toward sustainable employment outcomes which will have a positive effect on the whole district. The programme will also include other potential initiatives such as entry-level training, wage-based incentives, and support for businesses looking to take on staff. Set to run until 30 June 2021, we are looking for 25 sustainable employment placements.
We'll be looking forward to getting out and about in our community to identify both employers and employees to join our journey. We will have forms available soon to register your interest.
