Paeroa Library – Request for Bike Stand

A request from library users and library staff was received that a bike stand be installed outside the library as a number of library members are using bikes and as there is nowhere to park them, they are being dropped on the pavement.

The members agreed that the installation of a bike stand would reduce issues of nuisance on the pavement but would need to be subject to the Roading Manager’s approval.

RESOLVED

THAT a bike stand be installed outside the library subject to approval from the Roading Manager.

Submissions - Annual Plan 2010/11

The members were advised that one submission has been received to the Councils Annual Plan 2010/11 following the consultation process. Their consideration of this submission was requested.

Tayland Developments - Primrose Hill and Taylors Hill Reserve Walkways

The submitter has requested that the possibility of creating formal walking tracks through the Primrose Hill and Taylors Reserves be considered.

The members were advised that at present the public walk in both reserves on informal tracks which should be upgraded, Taylors Hill Reserve in particular.

In respect to allowing more walking use by the public, Primrose Hill has an added issue with the outer area being leased for grazing. Stock is constantly grazing in the reserve so fencing would have to be considered.

Cr Bubb supported that an extended walkway be established on Primrose Hill. It was suggested that the Periodic Detention workers could be involved in the project.

It was requested that the Parks and Reserves Manager investigate approximate costs in developing the walkway and advise the Committee in due course.

The Parks and Reserves Manager was also requested to arrange a meeting with Crs Bubb, Milner and Thorp and Laurie Smith of Tayland Developments for discussion on the project.

Skate Park Project

The Parks and Reserves Manager updated the members on the skate park project involving contractor Mr Tom Smithers.

The members were advised that staff are awaiting a quote for the installation from Mr Smithers.

It was requested that the Parks and Reserves Manager obtain the quote from Mr Smithers as soon as possible and arrange a meeting with him prior to the next ward meeting so that discussion can continue on the project.

The meeting closed at 1.15pm.
