Parking Issues – Mackay Street Paeroa

The item dealt with a parking problem in Mackay Street.

A Service Request was received on July 17 reporting that the owners of the new second-hand shop/laundromat business were claiming exclusive use of two car park bays in the front of the shop.

The new shop owner has been instructed to remove the home made Loading Zone sign which has been placed to attempt to enforce this claim.

The two car parks, the shop entrance and the signboard on the footpath were indicated in the photographs presented. There are 2 parallel car parks on this side of Mackay Street and a single loading zone space.

After consideration, the Committee preferred the angle parking alternative as it provided more spaces at the location.

RESOLVED

THAT the Ward Committee supports angle parks and one loading zone as their preferred option to deal with the Mackay Street parking concerns.
