A report from the Strategic Planning Projects Manager and Corporate Services Manager regarding the Long Term Plan 2012-22 was presented.

The Corporate Services Manager tabled draft estimates for the ten years of the Long Term Plan (LTP).  Also included in the estimates were the current year’s budget and the dollar and percentage variances between the first year of the LTP and the current year’s budget.

The Community Services Manager presented the Community Services Capital works schedule – Community Recreation.

Paeroa town entrance beautification

Council is moving to make the district look more inviting through the upgrading of town entranceways. Planting and associated sites works is to be developed at the Dell Reserve and on State Highway 2 at the northern end of Paeroa.

Paeroa Reserves – exercise equipment

The community have requested that adult exercise equipment be provided on community reserves. Paeroa Domain is Council’s preferred site for this activity. An allocation has been put aside for exercise islands in three of the Paeroa reserves over the next ten years. Actual reserve allocation is yet to be decided, although the Railway Reserve, Centennial Park and Paeroa domain are likely locations.

Replacement of furniture, park lighting, and signage has been scheduled for the Paeroa domain. This is due to expected general wear and tear.

A greatly increased fraternity of rugby league teams has heightened the need for more adequate facilities, including fields available for evening and night-time use.

Paeroa Wharf and Jetty project

This is a community driven project wishing to see the reinstallation of wharf and jetty facilities on the Ohinemuri River for the purpose of developing tourist opportunities. A feasibility study will be undertaken in 2012 to confirm costings and viability.

Option 1: Paeroa - Walkway between Paeroa Town Centre and the Maritime Park

The community have requested that Council extend the walkway from the stopbank in Paeroa to enable easy access to the Maritime Park for walkers.

The community have requested that Council extend the walkway from the stop bank in Paeroa to enable easy access to the Maritime Park for walkers, an alternative to link the Maritime Park via the Cycleway.

Community Services Manager to investigate whether there are other options for installing banners without closing the state highway.

**It was noted that the 2011 projects have been intentionally included for Members information as some of these projects, as at the writing of this report may not have yet been completed.

‘Martin Road’ (810 – 1282) was questioned as to whether this road is in Paeroa or Waihi? Action: District Engineer/Roading Manager). It has been confirmed that this road is in Waihi not Paeroa – to be deleted from Paeroa programme.

Paeroa Reserves – Exercise Equipment – wording amendment to ‘Paeroa Domain’ only (delete other locations). (Action: Strategic Planner to change in the LTP document. Finance also to action.  

Paeroa Domain – Park lighting and furniture – insert the word ‘internal’ in front of park lighting within the explanation. (Action: Strategic Planner to change in the LTP document. Finance also to action.

THAT the report be received, and

THAT the financial estimates for the Paeroa Ward be approved, as amended, and included in the Draft 2012-2022 Long Term Plan.

  • 2012/13 $99,000.00 plus $3,500 for the promotional video and $10,000 towards brochures

  • 2013/14 $99,000.00

  • 2014/15 $99,000.00
