RESOLVED

THAT pursuant to Section 46A(7) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987, the following late items be accepted for discussion.


- Paeroa Playcentre – Request for Financial Assistance towards Signage

The item was not on the agenda because item was unavailable at the time of the agenda deadline.

Discussion on the item could not be delayed because the applicant required the installation of promotional signage for the centre prior to the Christmas holiday period.


- Hauraki Rail Trail Signage, Line marking and Cycleway Symbols for Taylor Avenue, Paeroa

The item was not on the agenda because item was unavailable at the time of the agenda deadline.

Discussion on the item could not be delayed because a decision needed to be made on cycleway road marking for Taylor Avenue, Paeroa as soon as possible for the benefit of rail trail users coming into the holiday period.

Requests for Financial Assistance [CDV-30-100]


Valley Signs [1103043]

Valley Signs has presented an invoice following discussion with the Antiques Town representative and Positive Paeroa on the supply of Paeroa antique town signs.

The invoice identifies a total cost of $1,180.00 split 3 ways. The representative for Antiques Town asks that Council contributes $392.94 towards the cost.

RESOLVED

THAT the Paeroa Ward Committee grants funding of $392.94 towards the cost of ‘antiques town’ signage to the representatives of the Antiques Town Group.

LATE ITEM


REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: PAEROA PLAYCENTRE (1118893)

A request has been received from the Paeroa Playcentre seeking funding support towards signage costs promoting their centre.

A quotation for the cost to produce the national play centre branded signage was provided from a sign writer from out of the district.

The members considered that it is preferred that a local contractor from within the district is used as per Councils procurement policy.

RESOLVED

THAT as per Councils procurement policy the Paeroa Playcentre is advised that funding of signage is supported if a local contractor is used.

Status Report: Paeroa Ward Meeting - 10 September 2013

Railway Reserve Sculpture Project

The Community Services Manager updated the members on the Railway Reserve Sculpture Project.

Previously, the Ward Committee had requested that staff locate the plans and provide costs for the interpretative panels, seating and the hard surfacing of the area around the sculpture.

Staff advised of the following estimated costs of these works as follows:

  • Hard surfacing $1,200-$1,500
  • Seating $1,400 each
  • Interpretive signs $1,800 each

RESOLVED

THAT the hard surfacing of the area commence, and

THAT $2,000 be funded by Positive Paeroa for the hard surfacing, and

THAT the Ward members visit the reserve to discuss the project in relation to the interpretative panels and seating in more detail, and

THAT consideration is given to changing the name of Railway Reserve to a more relevant name.

Hutchinson Reserve – Concept Plan

Paeroa Lions have still not received the concept plan for the reserve. Staff advised they will ensure a copy of the plan is made available to the Paeroa Lions group.


BBQ Shelter - Railway Reserve

A decision is still to be made as to the preferred design of a BBQ shelter. It was requested that staff follow up this matter with Cliff Pett of the Paeroa Lions Club.


Other matters:


Paeroa CBD – Hauraki Rail Trail Improvements (doc. # 1115880)

The Community Services Manager updated the members on the status of HRT improvements in the CBD.

It was noted that a number of locations for bike racks have been approved. The Mayor suggested that bike racks are not ordered until the type that the Principal Trail Manager (PTM) intends to use have also been considered.

The Community Services Manager advised he would contact the PTM requesting design images and costs of the racks be sent to him for consideration prior to ordering the racks.


LATE ITEM OF BUSINESS


Hauraki Rail Trail – Road Marking and Cycleway Symbols

A copy of a quotation received from the Operations Supervisor of a Hamilton sign writing company (Integrated Traffic Solutions) was presented. The quotation offered the cost for cycleway road marking along Taylor Avenue (Section 3 RM 1735) of $1197.03.

The members were asked to consider the quotation and approve the contract price for this project.

RESOLVED

THAT approval is given for Integrated Traffic Solutions to undertake cycleway signage road marking in Taylors Avenue, Paeroa at a cost of $1197.03.
