The Community Services monthly report on activities for the month of November 2014 was presented for the Committee’s consideration.

Paeroa Pipe Band & Tattoo (1291565)
The Treasurer for the committee has written requesting assistance with the cost of hiring a sound system for the highland games and tattoo event on 14 February 2015.
THAT the correspondence from Paeroa Pipe Bands Tattoo Committee Inc be received, and
THAT $1,000.00 is granted to the Paeroa Pipe Bands Tattoo Committee Inc., from the Paeroa Ward Discretionary Fund towards the cost of hiring a sound system for their annual event.

Paeroa Community Garden Project (1287799)
A proposal was presented by Ms Alli Mitchell seeking Councils consideration to allocating an area of land where produce gardens may be provided for the community. Staff advised that they have identified a number of potential sites that could be considered at some time in the future.
The Chair suggested to Ms Mitchell that she seek the support of other members of the community and to form a group to drive this project to ensure it achieves it purpose.
THAT the request for the use of Council land and support for the provision of community produce gardens be received.

Centennial Park Signs (1291697)
A request was presented from the Paeroa Old Boys Rugby & Sports Club to upgrade the Centennial Park sign and for them to be able to change the Centennial Park sign that is attached to their building to Paeroa Old Boys to reflect the building is their club rooms.
It was agreed that Cr Thorp meet with the Parks and Reserves Manager for further discussion on Centennial Park signage with the Rugby Club.
The Community Services Operations Manager – Assets reported on the 2015 Long Term Plan assumptions regarding asset replacement and depreciation.
Due to constraints of time, the Chair requested that full consideration of the schedule of assets be considered following the meeting and that any amendments be noted and added later as part of the minutes.

Non Subsidised Roading for 2015/16 to 2017/18 LTP and 2018/19 – 2024/25
The Roading Manager presented the projected costs for the proposed forward work programmes for the Paeroa Ward Dust Seals, New Footpaths, Footpath Renewals, New Kerb and Channel and Kerb and Channel Renewals.
Janet Stewart – Deputy Team Leader, Roading Network Management - OPUS was in attendance to assist with discussion on the programmes.

PAWC14/75 Thorp/Milner CARRIED
The Roading Manager and Roading Engineer reported on and sought approval of the funding for the 13 bay car park layout located on the vacant stop bank land where Arney Street becomes Princes Street, Paeroa.
THAT the report be received, and
THAT Council approves the construction of a 20 bay parking area, Option 3, and car parks 1,2,3 to be turned into two disability car parks on the vacant stop bank land next to the swimming pool in Paeroa for an estimated cost of $50,000.
