MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE PAEROA WARD COMMITTEE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, WILLIAM STREET, PAEROA ON TUESDAY 11 FEBRUARY 2014 COMMENCING AT 12.30PM

CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES
THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Paeroa Ward Committee held on Tuesday 10 December 2013 are confirmed and are a true and correct record.

The Community Development Officer’s monthly report was presented for the Committee’s consideration.
THAT the Community Development monthly report be received.
PAWC14/03 Thorp/Adams CARRIED
There were no requests for financial assistance.
The Community Services monthly report on activities was presented for the Committee’s consideration.

PAWC14/04 Thorp/Milner CARRIED
Hauraki Rail Trail – Signage (1161805)(1.1MB)
Sonia Frimmel, HDC Signage Consultant and Kerstie Zandvoort, Hauraki Rail Trail Trust Administrator was in attendance to present signage concepts for the Rail Trail through Paeroa and focusing on the ‘junction’ at Criterion Bridge.
Paeroa Ward Community Facilities and Recreational Development Fund Projects
Bike Racks in Paeroa CBD
The members suggested a number of locations where bike racks could be installed within the CBD of Paeroa and asked that staff investigate the viability of these locations.
The Community Services Manager will review the locations suggested and report back to the Ward Committee.
Future Ward Meeting Agenda Format
The members supported the following format for future Ward Committee meetings:
- Invited Speakers – suggested - Blue Light initiatives, Skate & Leisure Centre, Police, Town Promoter, Representatives from HRTCT, representative from Paeroa College, Hutchinson Reserve.
- District Projects Significant to the Ward
- Paeroa Ward Community Facilities and Recreational Development Fund Projects
- Town Centres
- Ward Consultation (actions)
- Ward Funded Recreational Reserves
Paeroa Ward Site Visits/Workshop
The Chairperson sought feedback from the Ward members as to a suitable date for a Ward Workshop and which topics are to be added to the agenda. The future activities direction for Railway Reserve was an item that was asked to be included on the agenda.
Proposed date for workshop: Thursday 20th February at 10.00am- 2pm.

Placement of Community Patrols
Council have received 10 Community Patrols identification signs for placement within the Paeroa patrol area. The Paeroa Ward members were asked to consider and make recommendation as to suitable areas for their placement.
It was agreed that the location for the community patrol signage be reviewed at the 20 February workshop.
The Parks and Reserves Manager reported on an audit carried out of the Ward’s bin locations and the suitability of sites in the provision of litter collections for the community and travelling public.

The Roading Manager reported on the Paeroa Ward non-subsidised footpath construction programme and projects for 2013/14 year.
Following discussion, it was agreed that the footpath renewal projects and new footpaths projects for 2013/14 year be deferred until the completion of the Paeroa Ward site visits/workshop.
THAT the report be received, and

The Corporate Service Manager reported on the 2014-15 Draft Annual Plan Paeroa Ward Estimates.

The Corporate Service Manager presented the Paeroa Ward Capital Projects for 2014/15.
