MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE PAEROA WARD COMMITTEE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, WILLIAM STREET, PAEROA ON TUESDAY 11 NOVEMBER 2014 COMMENCING AT 12.30PM

CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES
THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Paeroa Ward Committee held on Tuesday 14 October 2014 are confirmed and are a true and correct record.
PAWC14/64 Milner/Thorp CARRIED
The Community Services monthly report on activities for the month of October 2014 was presented for the Committee’s consideration.
THAT the Community Services monthly report be received.
PAWC14/65 Bubb/Thorp CARRIED
Rollin Hills Table Tennis Club 
The President has written seeking financial assistance for the purchase of a table or accessories for the club.
The club intends to have the resources in place ready to start the season in March 2015.
The Chairperson advised that she had approached the Tirohia School asking if they would be interested in donating a table tennis table to the Club.
THAT correspondence from Rollin Hills Table Tennis Club be received, and
THAT the Chairperson approves the payment of the hall hire fee to the Rollin Hills Table Tennis Club.

Social Initiatives Project
The Community Development Manager advised that a planner to undertake this project has been recruited. The project will commence in February 2015.
Ward Funded Projects
Karangahake Area Development
Senior NZTA planning staff has been asked to review the proposed works that Council is suggesting with a view for agreement ‘in principle’ to the concepts this would allow resource consent to be applied for on this understanding.
NZTA have appointed a consultant, Sally Davis, to project manage the process of developing a Corridor Improvement Plan for the Karangahake Gorge.
The first step in the process is for NZTA to undertake two workshops with stakeholders; the first workshop to identify and define the problems associated with the road corridor through gorge, and the second to identify the benefits of any possible improvements.
The two workshops are proposed for 20 November and 1 December 2014. Staff will update the working party as confirmed dates are received.
The Community Services Facilities & Administration Manager was in attendance and reported on the Draft Public Toilet Strategy 2014. A copy of which was available.
Feedback was requested to recommendations in the draft strategy which provided some guidance for the members to consider for the provision of public toilets in the district.
Discussion was held regarding the over provision of toilets in the town centre.
THAT the report be received, and
THAT staff provide an options report for the provision of public toilets in the Paeroa Ward to the Committee in February 2015.

2015-25 LONG TERM PLAN - PAEROA WARD ESTIMATES – FIRST CONSIDERATION (1281774 (82 KB) , Appendix A: 1284613, Appendix B: 1284614)
The Finance Manager reported on the first consideration of the 2015-25 Long Term Plan – Estimates. Copies of the estimates and capital programme were available for the member’s consideration.
THAT the report be received.
