NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT A MEETING OF THE PAEROA WARD COMMITTEE WILL BE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, WILLIAM STREET, PAEROA ON TUESDAY 12 MAY 2015 COMMENCING AT 12.30PM

Subject: NEET’s program offered as part of the Youth Services work undertaken in Hauraki/Coromandel Districts. A presentation of the service will be provided along with an opportunity for discussion and questions.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Paeroa Ward Committee held on Tuesday 10 March 2015 be confirmed and are a true and correct record.

6. COMMUNITY SERVICES

6.1 SOCIAL INITIATIVES SCOPING REPORT – PAEROA YOUTH (1327076) (223 KB) Adobe Acrobat PDF document

The Community Development Officer has reported on and provides statistical information and identifies key social service and service providers within the Paeroa Ward for an identified social issue. This information will provide baseline data for potential future evaluation and ensure that the issue identified is relevant. Alley Reta (Youth Facilitator) and Carolyn Walker from Te Wananga o Aotearoa will be in attendance at 12.40pm.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the report be received, and

THAT the Ward Councillors request a meeting with education, business and service agencies in order to identify the issues surrounding school leavers and/or youth not attending further education or engaged in employment, and

THAT the Ward Councillors agree on a meeting date for the above said meeting.

The Community Services monthly report on activities for the month of April 2015 is attached for the Committee’s consideration.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the Community Services monthly report for the month of April 2015 be received, and

THAT the correspondence from Paeroa Central School, Te Whanau o Ngati Tawhaki Kapa Haka, Age Concern Thames Inc., Paeroa Community Support Trust and Paeroa Christian School be received, and

THAT consideration be given to the requests from Paeroa Central School, Te Whanau o Ngati Tawhaki Kapa Haka, Age Concern Thames Inc, Paeroa Community Support Trust and Paeroa Christian School, and

THAT consideration be given to installing a photographers post at Ohinemuri Park, and

THAT a site visit be undertaken by the Ward Committee, staff and representatives of Paeroa Netball in order to get a better understanding of the issues and identify possible solutions regarding their request for the installation of a footpath.


7. NETWORK SERVICES

The Roading Manager has reported on and provides an overview of the current signage practices in use by the various main street businesses. Consideration is requested as to how this matter can be dealt with.

RECOMMENDATION

THAT the report be received, and

THAT the Paeroa Ward Committee reviews and discusses the shop frontage signage requirements in relation to the District Plan and considers the management of objects such as stalls, tables, chairs and other items in terms of Part 3 section 2.3 of the Consolidated Bylaw, and

THAT the Council makes its decision on which options to choose based on that option being the most cost effective, and good quality for the Hauraki District based on the requirements of s10 of the Local Government Act 2002.
