If you own, operate or manage a business or venue, where alcohol will be sold or supplied, you need to be familiar with the laws and regulations that apply to alcohol. You must ensure that you have the correct licence.
About Alcohol Licences
There are four types of Alcohol Licence with various categories as listed below.
On licence
An On Licence is required to authorise the licensee to sell and supply alcohol from a specific premises to be consumed on the premises. View more information and application forms for an On licence
Off licence
An Off Licence is required to authorise the licensee to sell and deliver liquor from a specific premises to be consumed elsewhere. View more information and application forms for an Off licence
A club licence is required to authorise the licensee to sell and supply alcohol to authorised customers for consumption on the premises. An authorised customer means a person who is a member of the club, a guest accompanied by the member or a member of another club with reciprocal visiting rights. Special licence
A special licence is required to authorise the licensee to sell and supply alcohol to people attending an event described in the licence. Special Liquor Licence applications must be lodged with Council at least 20 working days before the event. View more information and application forms for a Special licence
Alcohol Licensing Public Notices
Applications for alcohol licences (new, renewal, and variations) need to be publicly notified. The public notices are now available to view on our website and are no longer placed in local newspapers.

Manager's Certificate
A person appointed as MANAGER of a alcohol outlet, e.g. hotel, tavern, wine shop or club MUST hold a Manager's Certificate.
A Manager must be on duty at all times and responsible for compliance unless the requirement to do so is exempt under the Act or a condition of licence. View more information and application forms for a manager's Certificate
Temporary Authority for On-Licence/Off-Licence
Who May Apply for a Temporary Authority?
Any person who appears to the Licensing Committee to have any right, title, estate, or interest in any premises may make application for a Temporary Authority.
The Licensing Committee may on application authorise an applicant to carry on the sale and supply of alcohol for a period of up to 3 months, on any premises that has an on-licence or off-licence in force. View more information and application forms for Temporary Authority

Local Alcohol Policy
All elements of the Local Alcohol Policy 2016, but excluding those elements relating to maximum trading hours, will come into force on Monday, 8 August 2016. All elements relating to maximum trading hours in the Local Alcohol Policy 2016 will come into force on Monday, 7 November 2016.
District Licensing Committee Decisions
The District Licensing Committee (DLC) is responsible for all applications made under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act, 2012, all manager's certificates, renewals and temporary authorities. DLCs also consider and determine applications for temporary licences and for the variation, suspension, or cancellation of special licences.
