Rates are essential income to help meet the cost of all the services and facilities provided by the Hauraki District Council.
Property rates and payment options
Rates are a charge against a property (rating unit), based on the rateable capital value of the property and what the property is used for. Rates are invoiced in four instalments per year during August, November, February and May. We provide a number of different payment options including online credit card payments, direct debit and automatic payments as well as other standard methods.
Rating valuations are set under the Rating Valuations Act 1998. Rating valuations are assigned to every property in New Zealand and updated every three years. Councils use Rating Values as one component in apportioning rates.
