What is a vehicle crossing?
A vehicle crossing is the section of driveway that connects the front property boundary to the roadway, and includes any crossing constructed over a footpath, kerb, berm, water channel, or drain.
How do I add a Vehicle Crossing?
The proposed location and construction of new vehicle crossings will need approval from Council, who will ensure that all construction complies with the appropriate standards and location as specified in the District Plan (section 8.4.3).
The construction, including the cost, is the property owner's responsibility. You will need to complete an application form - Application for Construction & Maintenance Works form [PDF, 112 KB] - and pay the appropriate fee. Once the application has been approved you must arrange for a Council approved contractor to construct the crossing within the specified time period. The on-going maintenance or repair of the vehicle crossing is the responsibility of the property owner.
If you are a business requiring Corridor Access to work in the road berm of the Hauraki District you must complete a Corridor Access Request. Find out more
