APPOINTMENT OF DEPUTY CHAIRPERSON

The Chairperson asked for nominations for the role of Deputy Chairperson.

Cr Gordon nominated Cr Harris to the role of Deputy Chairperson, Cr Swales supported this nomination.

THAT Cr Harris is appointed to the role of Deputy Chairperson of the Plains Ward Committee.

The President of the club advises they are holding a free Family Fun Day for families of the Plains district on Sunday 23 February at the Hauraki Plains College sports field.

The writer seeks a grant of $250.00 towards this event.

THAT the Community Development monthly report and correspondence from Lions Club Ngatea be received, and

THAT $250.00 is granted from the Plains Ward Discretionary Fund to the Ngatea Lions Club in support of their Family Fun Day to be held on 23 February 2014.

Future Ward Meeting Agenda Format

The members supported the following format for future Ward Committee meetings:

  • Invited Speakers (to have a time available for a public forum on application).
  • District Projects significant to the Ward.
  • Plains Ward Community Facilities and Recreational Development Fund Projects.
  • Ward Funded Recreational Reserves.
  • Ward Consultation (actions).
  • Town Centres.
  • General.

Plains Ward Site Visits/Workshop

The Community Services Manager sought the member’s feedback on a suitable date for a Ward site visit and workshop to be undertaken and what topics they wished to have added to the agenda for the workshop.

It was agreed that the site visits and workshop be held on Monday 24 February commencing at 9.00am from the Ngatea Service Centre.

Key topics to be reviewed at workshop:

  • Kerepehi community
  • Kaiaua
  • 2014/15 Projects
  • Ngatea Domain
  • Waitakaruru Domain
  • Turua and Kerepehi footpaths
  • Turua and Ngatea main street
  • Quarry water reservoir

The Parks and Reserves Manager reported on an audit carried out of the Ward’s bin locations and the suitability of sites in the provision of litter collections for the community and travelling public.

The members considered all current bin locations as presented and agreed to some amendments.

NETWORK SERVICES

PLAINS WARD FOOTPATH REPORT FOR JANUARY 2014 (1157939) (30KB) Adobe Acrobat PDF document 

The District Engineer reported on the Plains Ward non-subsidised footpath construction programme and projects for the 2013/14 year.

The members in considering the Plains Footpath Renewal budget felt that these projects be considered following the Ward workshop/site visit but supported the Ngatea Main Street (Streetscape) project of levelling raised and uneven border tiles and cobble stones.

RESOLVED

THAT the report be received, and

THAT the border tile levelling project in the Ngatea CBD ($5,500) be funded from the Footpath Maintenance budget, and

THAT a decision to construct Kerepehi Town Road stage 2 and the new footpath in Bagnall Square at a total cost of $36,000 be deferred until the Plains Ward workshop/site visit has been completed.
