CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES
THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Plains Ward Committee held on Tuesday 14 June 2011 are confirmed and are a true and correct record.

The Community Services monthly report on activities was presented for the Committee’s consideration.
THAT the Community Services monthly report be received.

CAPITAL PROJECTS SUMMARY
Ngatea Entranceway Landscaping
Discussion was held as to what would happen to the funding if the project was delayed as there was concern as to overall cost due to the overrun which had occurred on the Pioneer Project.
It was agreed that as expenditure of capital projects in Ngatea had been higher than expected, it was agreed that this project can be deferred but that it should be listed in the Long Term Plan CAPEX projects for consideration.
THAT the Ngatea Entranceway Landscaping be relisted into the 2012/2022 Long Term Plan.

Turua Playground (754347)
A letter was presented from the Turua Branch of the Rural Woman NZ thanking the people involved in the recent work in and around the Turua Township.
Turua Jetty - Repair of Pontoon (769138, 766728)
Discussion was held regarding the repair required to the pontoon due to it receiving constant damage from vandals.
It was considered that some way of protecting the pontoon from vandals would be beneficial to lessen the incidence of it constantly occurring.
It was agreed that the matter be raised at the Turua Domain Committee meeting with community members that evening and was suggested that the Ward members meet at the site with Community members to review the situation.
Kaiaua Wharf and Boat Ramp Lighting (767693)
A letter was presented from a resident of Kaiaua requesting that lighting be installed in and around the Wharf and Boat Ramp area at Kaiaua due to a number of thefts that have occurred from boats and motor vehicles recently.
It was requested that staff seeks costs of lighting suitable for the wharf area and report these back to the next Ward meeting. It was also requested staff seek clarification from the Police to determine the extent of theft at the location.
The meeting closed at 9.53am.
