MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE WAIHI WARD COMMITTEE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, WILLIAM STREET, PAEROA ON TUESDAY 13 JULY 2010 COMMENCING AT 2.30 PM

CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES
THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Waihi Ward Committee held on Tuesday 15 June 2010 are confirmed and are a true and correct record.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
Trust Waikato – Mobile Art Caravan
Assurance was sort from the Ward Committee members that they still wished the Mobile art caravan to be displayed in Waihi. It was agreed the caravan be displayed for 8 weeks over January and February 2011 during the Waihi Summer Festival.
The Community Services monthly report on activities was presented for the Committee’s consideration.
THAT the Community Services monthly report be received.

Waihi Walkways - Signs
A request has been received from Waihi Walkways to install signs on several walkways. These are standard directional walkway signs and will help people using the walkways. The request was attached.
THAT consideration be given to this request.
WWC10/39 Carmine/Hayden CARRIED
Pohutukawa Reserve Upgrade
The Parks and Reserves Manager and Community Services Manager are to meet with Ian Fulton to seek a community view of the process the planning for the project will take. Once the meeting has taken place the formal progress on a design will begin.
The replacement lights for the pump house in Waihi have been shipped and will be installed next week.
Waihi Event Centre.
The Sport ‘n’ Action group will take over the running of the Event Centre from the 1 August 2010. There are still minor details to be finalised before the contract can be signed.
A report from the Chief Executive was presented in response to a letter received from the Waihi Arts Centre and Museum Association Incorporated (WACMA) (attached) to Council requesting consideration of making a grant of $3,000.00 to the Museum for "unforeseen costs" associated with a delay in the project that they contend is because of "incorrect advice" from Council staff.
Also attached was a letter from the Planning and Environmental Services Manager to the Chief Executive outlining the regulatory issues concerning the museum project.
THAT the report be received; and
THAT Council’s declines the consideration of making a grant of $3,000.00 to the Museum; and
THAT Council pays $812.50 for the Resource Consent required.
