MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE WAIHI WARD COMMITTEE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, WILLIAM STREET, PAEROA ON TUESDAY 15 JULY 2014 COMMENCING AT 2.30 PM

Pursuant to Section 46A(7) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987, the Chairperson called for late items to be accepted.
THAT pursuant to Section 46A(7) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987, the following late items be accepted for discussion.
- Streets Ahead Fund 2014: Use of Bank Street Reserve as Community Green Space
The item was not on the agenda because the item was unavailable at the time of the agenda deadline.
Discussion on the item could not be delayed because the applicants required the consideration of the Committee before the next meeting.

INVITED SPEAKER: WAIHI GREY POWER ASSOCIATION
Merv Lauder and Robin Straker from Waihi Grey Power Association gave a presentation to the Ward Committee on the activities of the Waihi branch.
CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES
THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Waihi Ward Committee held on Tuesday 10 June 2014 are confirmed and are a true and correct record.

The Community Services monthly report on activities was presented for the Committee’s consideration.
THAT the Community Services monthly report be received.
WWC14/39 Tubman/Keall CARRIED
The District Engineer and Roading Manager reported on an application to establish a road side business on the southern side of SH2 between Wrigley Street and Margaret Street, Waihi.
THAT the report be received, and
THAT the Sure Glass Windscreen Repair’s application to operate on the southern side road verge of SH2 be declined as it creates potential traffic safety issues and
THAT applications from intending road side vendors to operate from similar locations within the 70kph speed restriction area of the state highway be declined due to the adverse effect on safety and efficiency of road traffic movement.

LATE ITEMS OF BUSINESS
STREETS AHEAD FUND 2014: USE OF BANK STREET RESERVE AS COMMUNITY GREEN SPACE (1229792)
Correspondence was presented from the Chairman of the Waihi Community Forum requesting the Ward Committee’s consideration to the proposed use of the Bank Street Reserve as community green space with funding support from the Streets Ahead Fund 2014.
THAT the correspondence be received.

Staff advised that there is $200,000 that is required to be spent by the end of 2014. Waihi Community Forum will be asked to do a report for Council outlining the steps involved in this project.
