MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE PLAINS WARD COMMITTEE HELD IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, WILLIAM STREET, PAEROA ON TUESDAY 12 MAY 2015 COMMENCING AT 9.00 AM

The item was not on the agenda because the item was unavailable at the time of the agenda deadline.
Discussion on the item could not be delayed because the group making the request expressed consideration of the item under urgency due to road safety concerns.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
Request for Financial Assistance: Kaiaua Residents Group – Resurfacing of Kaiaua Tennis Courts
It was agreed that the Parks and Reserves Manager and Cr Swales meet with the Kaiaua residents for further discussions on the request.
The Community Services monthly report on activities for the month of April 2015 was presented for the Committee’s consideration.
THAT the Community Services monthly report for the month of April 2015 be received.

Ward Social Initiatives
The members were advised that the Plains Ward Committee has $5,000.00 available from the 2013/14 term making a total of $10,000 for discretionary grants of a social services nature.
A copy of a list of community groups which could benefit from this fund was tabled for discussion.
Social Initiatives Scoping Project
Further to the project meeting held last year on the identification of social gaps in the Plains Ward, a SWOT analysis has been undertaken which was attached as Appendix A.
To note was the apparent lack of urgent issues from those in attendance. This has been taken on board with regards to the level of project activity needed. There are a number of opportunities that could be followed up and staff will be working with Cr Leonard to assess and prioritorise these.
The Parks and Reserves Manager provided a summary of current Ward projects.
Minutes of the Ngatea Hall and Domain Management Committee meeting held on 19 February 2015 were presented for the information of the Committee.
THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Ngatea Hall and Domain Management Committee held on 19 February 2015 are received.

LATE ITEMS OF BUSINESS
Waitakaruru Domain Board – Request for Financial Assistance towards Upgrade of Entranceway off SH25
The Parks and Reserves Manager presented a request from the Secretary of the Waitakaruru Domain Board seeking funding assistance towards upgrading the entranceway to the Domain off state highway 25.
They are concerned about the safety at the location. They wish to widen the entranceway and repair and re-level the car park.
THAT the Parks and Reserves Manager write to the Waitakaruru Domain Board requesting more detailed information to support the funding towards the entranceway upgrade project, and
THAT staff and Cr Harris meet with the Waitakaruru Domain Board for discussion on the project, and
THAT the outcome of this meeting be reported back to the Plains Committee Ward meeting in June.
