Social Initiatives Project

The Community Development Manager advised that a planner to undertake this project has been recruited. The project will commence in February 2015.


Waihi Swimming Pool

The Parks and Reserves Manager updated the Committee on the plan for the operation of the pool over the 2014-15 season.

The Community Services Facilities & Administration Manager was in attendance and reported on the Draft Public Toilet Strategy 2014. A copy of which was available for the member’s consideration.

Feedback was requested to recommendations in the draft strategy which provided some guidance for the members to consider for the provision of public toilets in the district.

Discussion was held regarding the over provision of toilets at Whiritoa.

The Parks and Reserves Manager reported on options for bike racks and proposed locations in and around the Waihi CBD.

THAT the report be received, and

THAT staff install two bike racks in the town centre, and

THAT staff report back on how this is working to the February 2015 meeting, and

THAT the Ward approves that the levels of service be included in the LTP and budgets.

The Finance Manager reported on the first consideration of the 2015-25 Long Term Plan – Estimates. Copies of the estimates and capital programme were available.

The District Engineer reported on Waihi Main Street Footpath Renewals – replacing damaged sections of tiles in the Waihi Main Street.

RESOLVED

THAT the report be received, and

THAT the Waihi Main Street footpath Tile renewal procedure as described in the report be used to progressively replace areas of tiles which are extensively damaged, and

THAT, any salvageable tiles are stored for use for replacing individual damaged tiles.
