THAT pursuant to Section 46A(7) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987, the following late items be accepted for discussion.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES

Guest Speaker – October

It was agreed that as the Youth Hub Co-ordinator, Karen Dodd was unavailable this month, she be invited to meet with the Ward Committee in October.

Consideration for 2015-25 LTP Waihi Ward – Proposed Capital Projects

Victoria Park Skate Bowl

The members requested that further consideration is given to the skate bowl being re-plastered as opposed to being removed.

The Parks and Reserves Manager advised he will seek costs of both re-plastering and removal of the skate bowl so an informed decision can be made.

Waihi Cemetery – Ashes Garden

The members proposed that this project needs to be brought forward from Year 3 to either year 1 or 2 due to the increase in the number of ashes burials at the cemetery.

Waihi CBD - Bike Rack Sites

At the August meeting, it was proposed that staff identify suitable sites for bike racks to be located in the CBD. As staff is still to undertake this task, it was agreed that the Parks and Reserves Manager meet with the Ward members to look at sites on a date to be confirmed.

Ward Funded Recreational Reserves

Victoria Park Play Renewals Seesaw and Modular

It was advised that the seesaw at the park has been vandalised and is in the process of being replaced.

Town Centres

Promotional Signage on Main Street Bogger

Mark Samson of the Gold Discovery Centre has approached Council seeking permission to attach a promotional sign, constructed of light weight corflute material to the bucket of the main Street Bogger. Staff suggested the signage be in place for a period 2 months.

RESOLVED

THAT the Ward Committee grants permission for the Gold Discovery Centre to attach promotional signage on the Main Street bogger for a period of 2 months.

Updated Status of Actions raised by Ward Committee - August

  • Staff to introduce Waihi Heritage Vision with the HRTCT when the Trust undertakes the interpretative signage on the Waihi to Waikino section of the Trail. Community Services Manager is working with the new HRTCT Administrator.
  • Waihi Pump House lights not working. An electrician is presently looking at this issue.
    Waihi library. Two open days have been held for expressions of interest. Minimal interest was shown.
  • Staff to sort out the placement of a bike rack outside the Waihi museum. Suggestion to use the bigger of the 2 outside the old Waihi Library. – The Parks and Reserves Manager is progressing this.
  • Staff to install bike racks at new Library/Service Centre. The Parks and Reserves Manager is progressing this.

As part of the development of the 2015-25 Hauraki Long Term Plan being undertaken by the Strategic Planning Department, attached was a report and table (Appendix A) updating the progress of actions to date.

LATE ITEMS OF BUSINESS

Request for use of Memorial Hall: Waihi Dahlia Club (1255464)

The President of the Waihi Dahlia Club has written requesting the use of the Memorial Hall in which to store their club trestles.

RESOLVED

THAT the request to store trestles is approved but Council accepts no liability for the trestles, and

THAT Council cannot guarantee other Memorial Hall users will not use the trestles.

Request for Financial Assistance: Habitat Enhancement & Landcare Partnership (Waihi) Inc. (HELP) (1255462)

The (HELP) group have written seeking funding support towards their riparian planting project along the Mangatoetoe Stream, Waihi.

RESOLVED

THAT the Ward Committee approves a grant of $3,000 per year for three years from Community Minor Reserves Budget towards the riparian planting along the Mangatoetoe Stream, Waihi.
