Shifting goal posts
While work on Ngatea's town centre footpath is progressing well, rain this week combined with expected wet weather next week, may mean we can't quite reach our goal of finishing before Christmas. We'll have a better idea of where we're at next week and will keep you posted.
On the home stretch
The good news is that even if we're not quite finished, we're confident we'll at least be out of the main town centre and on the home stretch, with only the section near the Z Service Station left to go.
Moratorium from 23 December to 5 January
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency has a moratorium on road works on State Highways from 23 December to 5 January. This means we have to pack up and remove all our traffic management cones and fencing so the roads are clear for the Christmas holiday traffic.
We'll be back
After that we'll be back to finish any remaining sections of footpath and add the finishing touches such as landscaping, planting, line marking, street furniture and some general tidy up work.
If it's raining, we're not pouring
We're watching the weather closely and if you see us down tools, it will be because of rain. If there's even a hint of rain, we won't be pouring concrete - it's not worth the risk of having to dig up what we've done and start all over again. We'd rather do it once, and do it right.
