Hauraki Road through Turua needs some quick TLC
Ngatea town roadworks are zooming along with a detour in place along Hauraki Road to State Highway 25 for northbound traffic.
HDC and NZTA have been closely monitoring the detour route for roading faults due to the increase in traffic along Hauraki Road, while the full road closure of State Highway 2 in Ngatea is taking place.
Two stretches of Hauraki Road identified for pavement repairs
Two stretches of road have been identified where there is potential road damage, so our roading team are acting fast to get the repairs done before the start of the long weekend.
- The first area is from the State Highway 2, Captain Cook end of Hauraki Road. That will be done tomorrow, Thursday 23 January.
- The second area is in the urban part of Hauraki Road. Those repairs will be done on Friday morning, from 5am. We appreciate this early start will create additional noise and we thank you for your ongoing patience.
They may also add a few more minutes to the detour so do allow for that. These repairs keep Hauraki Road viable as a detour route for the duration of the roading project in Ngatea.
Ngatea is open for business
You can still access Ngatea from State Highway 25 via Pipiroa Road and from the Mangatarata end of State Highway 2, so please support local businesses and let's keep Ngatea on the map.
