What's happening on SH2 Ngatea
Waka Kotahi NZTA has informed us that the current stage of work to upgrade State Highway 2 is now mostly complete, with just a few minor finishing tasks to be done.
The highway has now had asphalt laid in the westbound lanes from the Piako River bridge as far as the Police Station and in the eastbound lanes as far as the Ngatea Primary School.
Higgins will return to Ngatea at various times this week to complete some minor finishing works, which will only have a minimal impact on traffic.
Asphalt at western end of SH2 to be laid at a later date
Higgins will be back to lay asphalt at the western end of SH2 in Ngatea. Once we have some firm dates for this, we'll let you know.
NZTA passes on their thanks for your patience
We know that this has been a big project which has caused a lot of disruption to the community and businesses.
We'd like to say a big thanks to everyone for your patience over the past several months.
