Peter Pakinga, one our Parks and Reserves Mowing Labourer's, snapped a video of a large pod of dolphins cruising down the Piako River this morning and it's made Stuff's front page online news!

Chasing down food

Witnessed by Council and Waikato Regional Council staff members, the large pod appeared to be chasing down food and heading out to sea. Peter was quick to phone our Communications team to ask if we could share his video on our Council Facebook page.

"It was incredible", said Peter. "I wanted everyone to experience the moment!"

Stuff.co.nz quick to pick up the story

Kelley, a journalist from Stuff.co.nz, saw the video on our Facebook page and was quick to contact us to get the story from Peter. It's such a unique sight, it may even make the national news.

Check out the video and story on Stuff's online front page.

You can't beat the view from our backyard

Good work Peter. What a wonderful sight on the Hauraki Plains. You can't beat the view from Peter's workplace!
