From 1 October building consents must be lodged with us on online.

That’s right, we’re switching to online applications only

We’re really excited about the convenience and efficiency of online consents - you’ll be able to lodge everything directly from the comfort of your own home or office and track your consent’s progress online, anytime!

All you’ll need is an internet connection and an email address

From 1 October, when you’re ready to lodge a building consent, head to our website, open the Building Consent Application portal, create an account for yourself using your name, email address and a secure password and you’re good to go.

Follow the prompts to upload all your documents. Don’t worry if you miss anything, the system will prompt you for the information. And if you get stuck, you can save your work, and go back to the tutorials, at any time.

Don't have access to the internet?

We've got that covered - for customers who don't have access to the internet, they can book a pre-lodgement meeting with our building team in Paeroa and they will lodge the consent online for them.

We'll need to scan their documentation, so this service does have a scanning fee of $20 for 1-50 pages A3 or A4, $5 per page A1 or A2. All documentation will be posted to them, standard printing fees will apply, A4 B&W $0.30, A3 B&W $0.50.

Here are some easy to follow video tutorials to get you started

The tutorials will be available on the building page of our website from 1 October too.

Once you’ve hit send, you can view and follow progress online.

You or your agent can use the portal to update Licensed Building Practitioner details (LBP) at any time throughout the BC process. Remember, all LBP's for restricted builds must be assigned to the Building Consent before inspections can be booked.

If your agent lodges the application for you, they can invite you to be a user - you'll both be able to view the same documents online

The statutory time frame to process a consent remains the same, but with all the documentation digitised and shared through your online account, it will be a more streamlined and efficient experience for you.

What about consents lodged before 1 October?

Any consents lodged before the 1 October, will still be processed in the old way, so you won't be able to view them online. It also means if your consent started in our previous system, you'll need to keep using that format by emailing any additional information to info@hauraki-dc.govt.nz.

Let the countdown begin!

Building consents online is a giant leap in evolution from paper applications to a fully digitised system for us and our customers. There's already a buzz of excitement from building agents who use the AlphaOne system with our neighbouring councils, so we are raring to get started.  We know you'll enjoy the more streamlined and efficient process too!
