Don't miss our series of library talks
It's said that the true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.
First up - Let's talk about trees
Join us at the Paeroa Library on Saturday 12 June at 10:30am and hear from Chris Webb FRIH who will share his passion for the importance of trees in our landscape and communities and as a food source. Come and be inspired.
Chris is Treasurer of the Royal NZ Institute of Horticulture and Secretary of the NZ branch of the International Dendrology Society. Dendrology is the science and study of wooded plants, specifically taxonomic classifications.
Local school students get stuck in
Alice and her buddies Loretta and Madi from Waikino School were as proud as punch of their tree planting effort - they planted 40 trees between them at the recent community planting day at the Waikino Domain! Students, teachers and parents have planted 300 trees in the Waikino School forest and 500 in the Waikino Domain, as part of their commitment to the WRC Enviroschools and Streamcare programs.
We are a big supporter of these community led initiatives so it's wonderful to see that our local tamariki are well on their way to understanding the importance of trees.
