It's Road Safety Week and we couldn't resist letting Nico, HDC's Top Dog 2021, share the message with us.

Road safety - it's everyone's responsibility

Today we're highlighting that road safety is everyone's responsibility - drivers; passengers; quad bikers; cyclists; truck drivers; motorbikers; pedestrians; joggers; moped riders; mobility scooters; walkers; rail trail cyclists; scooters; farmers; sisters, brothers, fathers, mothers, aunties, uncles, courier drivers, school bus drivers and pet owners!

Let's look out for each other and keep everyone safe on our roads.

Take the interactive Road Code tests and check your knowledge

Whether you're a learner, a new driver, or an experienced one, have some fun checking your knowledge of the NZ Road Code with some interactive tests from drive.govt.nz. The first test covers Roadworks and Passing. Sign up or log in if you already have an account with DRIVE and you'll be on your way! We'll be sharing different content through the week.

You can save your progress and unlock real practice tests as you go through the Road Code. There's never been a better time to refresh your road skills.

Monday - Test One
  • Roadworks and Passing: Covers road surfaces, roadworks and passing.
Tuesday - Test Two
  • Weather conditions, Night driving and the dangers of distraction
Wednesday - Test Three
  • Intro to intersections and giving way

This is a great way to get all the learners and drivers in your family to refresh their knowledge - who is going to take the checkered flag and be the road safety champion in your whanau?

Be like Nico and 'wuff road safety!"
