Modern libraries offer books and so much more

At Hauraki libraries, you can hire movies and TV series, use the computers and free Wi-Fi, download books to read or listen to, or just sit and read the paper. We also host events for young and old and everyone in between.

What else would make our libraries your happy place?

Our Great Summer Library Survey opens today to find out who is using our libraries, who isn’t, (and why), and what else we could offer to create a welcoming community hub for all. You can complete it in English or te reo Maori We received some great ideas from our Plains community for their new library and now it’s your turn to tell us what we could offer to make our libraries your happy place.

Library not your thing?

If you never visit your local library we really want to hear from you! Complete our survey and go in the draw to win a $50 prezzie card and unlimited FREE DVD hire for a month. We’re on a mission to make our local libraries your happy place so we want know what services would get you through the doors.

Here's what's happening around the world

To help spark your imagination, here are some things going on in other libraries. Would you like to see these happen here?

A Library of Things: people can borrow gear such as microscopes, musical instruments, metal detectors, and karaoke machines.

A Seed Library: gardeners can take seeds, grow their plants, and then harvest new seeds to give back to the library to share with others.

Hobbies: practise and learn with Knitting Circles, Craft Classes, Bike Repair Workshops, or Q&A’s with authors, artists, and others who simply have interesting things to talk about!

Bringing the Community Together: some libraries host writers’ groups, home-schooler meet-ups, and study groups for people learning English as a Second language.

So, let us know what would make Hauraki libraries your happy place by answering our survey and go in the draw to win a $50 prezzie card (in time for Christmas) and unlimited free hire of DVDs for a month!

Survey extended to 4pm Wednesday 5 January 2022.
