We Need To Talk

Opportunities to tell us your thoughts...

The CouncilMARK™ programme, developed by Local Government New Zealand, is designed to improve the public's knowledge of the work councils are doing in their communities and to support individual councils to further improve the service and value they provide.

Councils receive an overall performance rating ranging from AAA to C, from an Independent Assessment Board.

The four priority areas for CouncilMARK™ are:

  • governance, leadership and strategy;
  • transparency in financial decision-making;
  • service delivery and asset management;
  • communication and engagement with the public and businesses.

CouncilMARK™ rewards robust decision-making, promotes a more responsive council culture, improved services and better communication.

Assessment

In February 2019, we received an A rating as a result of the assessment.

The Independent Assessment Board that oversees the Local Government Excellence Programme CouncilMARK™ described Hauraki District Council as “a small Council doing big things” and awarded it an A rating, citing a stand out performance in governance, strategy and engagement with the community.
