Proposed Plan Change 5 - former Paeroa Racecourse
WFT Finance & Investment Company Limited applied to the Hauraki District Council for a private plan change to re-zone the land at 29 Thames Road, Paeroa (the former Paeroa Racecourse), legally described as Lot 48 DP 538159, from Reserve (Active) under the the Hauraki section of the Hauraki District Plan to facilitate a mix of residential, commercial and open space activities in accordance with a new Structure Plan for the site.
The appeal period closed on 17 November 2022, with no appeals received.
At the Council meeting of 30 November 2022, Council resolved to make Plan Change 5 to the Hauraki District Plan ‘Operative’ pursuant to clause 17 (1) of the Resource Management Act 1991.
In accordance with clause 20 (1) of Schedule 1 of the RMA, Plan Change 5 is operative from 16 December 2022.

In addition to the updates to the District Plan to make Plan Change 5 Operative, there have been subsequent additional changes as the Meteorological Service of New Zealand has uplifted its designation for the Paeroa Weather Station, located on the Paeroa Racecourse, and this change has been included.

Decisions
The Hearing commenced on 1 August 2022 and was closed on 24 August 2022, by the District Plan Committee. The Committee’s recommendations were considered by, and adopted by, the Council at its meeting on 14 September 2022. The decisions have been publicly notified (5 October 2022) and the appeal period is open (for the applicant and submitters).
