CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES
THAT the minutes of the meeting of the Waihi Ward Committee held on Tuesday 12 May 2015 are confirmed and are a true and correct record.
WWC15/26 Tubman/Keall CARRIED
The Community Services monthly report on activities for the month of May 2015 was presented for the Committee’s consideration.
THAT the Community Services monthly report for May 2015 be received, and
THAT the correspondence from Waihi Friendship Club, Waihi Community Resource Centre, St. Vincent de Paul, Salvation Army Waihi and Sport ‘n’ Action Waihi be received and that consideration is given to the requests.

Waihi Leader - Waihi Reflections Page
Discussion was held regarding the Waihi Ward’s support of the Ward Reflections page currently being published monthly in the Waihi Leader.
THAT the Waihi Ward Committee recommends to Council that the continuation of the Waihi Leader - Waihi Reflections page be decided when Council’s Communication Strategy is being developed.

Waihi Friendship Club
The Waihi Friendship Club secretary/treasurer has written seeking financial assistance for their rates. The organisation is not eligible under Council’s remission policies for rates relief. Currently the rates for the hall is $1681.29
THAT a grant of $500.00 is contributed to the Waihi Friendship Club from the Waihi Ward Discretionary Fund in support of rates assistance.

Waihi Community Resource Centre
The Manager has written seeking financial assistance for an upgrade of their computer system. The organisation has received a quote of $14,890.96. The society would be appreciative of any contribution.
THAT a grant of $900.00 is contributed to the Waihi Community Resource Centre from the Waihi Ward Discretionary Fund towards the upgrade of the Waihi Resource Centre computer system.

St. Vincent de Paul
The secretary has written seeking financial assistance for their food bank. The organisation provides an average of 5 food parcels a week.
THAT a grant of $500.00 is contributed to St. Vincent de Paul from the Waihi Ward Discretionary Fund to assist with the provision of food parcels for their foodbank.

Salvation Army Waihi
The Corps Officer has written seeking financial assistance for the replacement of a furniture trailer. The trailer is used weekly to collect donations of food and pick up and deliver furniture items. A cost for a new purpose-built trailer has been quoted at $7,450 GST exclusive.
THAT a grant of $1,000.00 is contributed to the Salvation Army Waihi from the Waihi Ward Discretionary Fund in support of costs to replace a furniture trailer.

Waihi and Sport ‘n’ Action Waihi
The Chairman for Sport ‘n’ Action Waihi Trust has written requesting the further release of funds for the Waihi Recreation and Community Centre (Morgan Park) project.
In November 2012, Council resolved to fund $455,000 towards Stage 1 of the Waihi Recreation and Community Centre Project from the Waihi Community Facilities and Recreational Development Fund; to date Council has released $66,000 that was used to advance the resource consent process leaving a balance of $389,000.
The Trust seeks a further advancement of $40,000 for the additional costs involved in the Resource Consent and Lotteries applications process.
THAT the request from Sport ‘n’ Action Waihi for a further advance of $40,000 from the Waihi Community Facilities and Recreational Development Fund for additional costs involved in the resource consent and applications process towards Stage 1 of the Waihi Recreation and Community Centre project be approved.

Morgan Park Redevelopment Project
The Sport ‘n’ Action Morgan Park Committee has been granted a resource consent for stage one of the redevelopment of Morgan Park.
The Committee was required to have resource consent in order to file application to Lotteries for funding. The funding application has been lodged and is awaiting a response from Lotteries, which is due May/June 2015, as to the success of their application. Staff will notify Council once any decision or information is available.
Corridor Improvement Plan for the Karangahake Gorge (Waihi to Paeroa)
Council has received a preliminary draft report from NZTA that requests initial feedback from Council with regards to the recommendations made. Staff has set up a stakeholder representative group meeting where the recommendations can be reviewed and feedback provided to NZTA.
Morgan Park – Netball Courts
Council staff have worked with Waihi Netball and completed remedial works that allows games to continue on the number three court. The number one court is still deemed to be unfit for play.
The Parks and Reserves Manager will be monitoring the situation with regards to any further ground subsidence and will continue to work with Waihi Netball and inform Council should the situation change.
Waihi Cemetery Signage
Staff are currently relocating recently installed signage to inside the Cemetery boundary as required by NZTA. These works are expected to be completed by the end of June.
Hauraki Rail Trail –Waihi Railway Station to Waihi CBD
A report on the route options for taking HRT riders from the railway station to the Waihi CBD has been forwarded to NZTA for their consideration. Feedback has still not been received but this is expected by the end of June. A further update will be presented to the Ward Committee in July.
