Each of the mines in Hauraki District is authorised via resource consent (except the original Martha Pit, processing and tailings storage facilities which were authorised via a Mining Licence in 1987), that require regular monitoring reports to be provided to the Council on: mine development (including plans updated monthly showing the location of underground workings); filled/unfilled stopes, seismic and rock movement; mine land stability; dewatering and ground settlement; noise; vibration; social impacts; complaints; heritage features; etc.
