What cannot go in the blue crate?
The following items cannot go in the glass crate but they can be placed in your rubbish bin. Be sure to wrap broken or sharp items.
X broken glass, windows and mirrors
X china and crockery (cups, saucer,
plates)
X drinking glasses
X fluorescent tubes and light bulbs
X glass bricks
X vapeware
X opal glass (milky white)
X pyrex dishes and oven ware
X perfume bottles
X medical and laboratory glass
containers
X TV tubes and computer screens*
*Take them to the Refuse Transfer Station.
How is it paid for?
Only properties that receive a kerbside recycling service pay a targeted rate for recycling collections. The targeted rate covers the kerbside collection service and disposal costs.
Every property in the district pays towards the running of the Waihī and Paeroa Refuse Transfer Stations (RTS).
You can recycle free of charge at these sites.
