Dog Control Bylaw
Our Dog Control Bylaw promotes the control of dogs in public places and on private property, to minimise danger, distress or nuisance caused by the keeping of dogs to the public. It should be read in conjunction with our Dog Control Policy.
Our bylaw contains rules around:
- When dogs should be on their leash
- Where and when dogs can be exercised off their leash
- Places dogs aren’t allowed
- Where you can take your dog on the Hauraki Rail Trail
- Number of dogs allowed to be kept
- Fencing requirements for dangerous dogs
- Roaming, barking or howling dogs
- Picking up your dog’s droppings
- Impounding and neutering of dogs
