How to apply
If you wish to have more than two dogs on a section in a Residential area, download, complete and return the Dispensation application and Neighbour Consent forms below. The application fee must be paid before we can begin to process your application.
What happens next?
The Animal Management team will then:
- Check the applicant’s details to make sure that the requirements above are met.
- Check with each of your neighbours and obtain their consent.
- Conduct a property inspection to ensure the property is suitable for the requested number of dogs.
- Make a decision based on his/her findings.
- The Council will then send a letter to the owner confirming whether or not dispensation has been approved.
Please note that the dispensation approval may be cancelled at any time, if any justified issues arise.
When more than three dogs are registered to an owner, the fourth and subsequent dogs are registered at a reduced fee.
If not all neighbours consent the application will go to a Hearing.
