Liquor Ban 2014/15

Christmas / New Year

Notice is hereby given pursuant to the Hauraki District Council Consolidated Bylaw that the consumption of alcoholic liquor, the bringing of liquor or of empty liquor containers and the possession of liquor or empty liquor containers in the public places identifi ed below is hereby prohibited during the periods identified below.

Liquor Bans - Whiritoa

All public places including roads, beaches and reserves are included in the prohibition for the Christmas and New Year Public Holiday.

Dates and Times – Whiritoa Liquor Ban

During the Christmas and New Year Public Holiday being from 4.00pm Tuesday 23 December 2014 to 4.00am Tuesday 6 January 2015 inclusive.

Liquor Bans - Paeroa, Ngatea and Waihi

That the consumption and bringing into and possession of liquor in all public places including, roads and reserves are prohibited at all times within areas of the townships listed below:

Waihi

  • within the 50 kilometre speed limit areas of Waihi township, and
  • within the 70 kilometre speed limit areas of Seddon Avenue, East from the Margaret Street / Toomey Street intersection to the 50 kph speed limit sign East of the Martin Road / Baber Street intersection.

Paeroa and Ngatea

  • within the 50 kilometre speed limit areas of the Paeroa and Ngatea townships.
Penalties

Any person who commits an offence against the prohibition may be convicted and fined up to $20,000.00.

Powers of Police

The Hauraki District Council Consolidated Bylaw authorises any member of the New Zealand Police to act under sections 169 and 170 of the Local Government Act 2002, including the exercise of the power under section 170(2) to immediately and without further notice search a container or vehicle.

Expressions of Interest

Paeroa Post Office Building

Council are inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the lease or purchase of the Paeroa Post Office building situated at 101 Normanby Road, Paeroa.

An information pack with details of the EOI is available from Council’s Service Centre at William Street, Paeroa or by phoning the Property Manager, Dennis Lees on 07 862 8609.

Temporary Road Closure

Ngatea Christmas Parade

Pursuant to the Section 11(e) of the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, notice is hereby given that for the purpose of the Ngatea Christmas Parade the following roads will be closed to ordinary vehicular traffi c for the period indicated below. During the period of closure provision will be made for ordinary vehicular traffi c, which would otherwise use the road, to use alternative routes.

Date of closure: Thursday 11 December 2014.
Time of closure: 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

In case of weather issues the event will be held on Friday 12 December.

Roads to be closed: River Rd from HDC Yard to SH 2 (Orchard West Rd); SH 2 (Orchard West Rd) from River Rd to Darlington St, NGATEA.

Alternative provision for ordinary vehicular traffic will be made with signs, cones and barriers to
redirect traffic on detour.

It will be an offence under the above regulations for any person otherwise than under authority of an authorised permit to use the road for ordinary vehicular traffi c during the period of closure.

Paeroa Santa Parade

Pursuant to the Section 11(e) of the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, notice is hereby given that for the purpose of the Paeroa Santa Parade the following roads will be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic for the period indicated below. During the period of closure provision will be made for ordinary vehicular traffic, which would otherwise use the road, to use alternative routes.

Date of closure: Friday 12 December 2014.
Time of closure: 5.30pm to 7.00pm
Roads to be closed: SH2 (Normanby Rd and Belmont Rd) from Victoria St to Marshall St. Princes St, Queen St and Wharf St. Willoughby St from Arney St to Corbett St, PAEROA.

Alternative provision for ordinary vehicular traffic will be made with signs, cones and barriers to
redirect traffic on detour.

It will be an offence under the above regulations for any person otherwise than under authority of
an authorised permit to use the road for ordinary vehicular traffic during the period of closure.
