Creative Communities Scheme

Funding for Local Arts

Applications for funding assistance to local arts projects and initiatives within the territory of the Hauraki District Council are now being received.

The scheme’s three funding criteria are:

  1. Broad community involvement – Your project will create opportunities for local communities to engage with and participate in arts activities;
  2. Diversity – Your project will support the diverse arts and cultural traditions of local communities, enriching and promoting their uniqueness and cultural diversity; and
  3. Young people – Your project will enable and encourage young people (under 18 years) to engage with and actively participate in the arts.

Application forms are available from council offi ces at: William Street, Paeroa; Rosemont Road, Waihi; Orchard Road, Ngatea.

Due to Monday 1 June 2015 being a statutory holiday, kerbside collections scheduled for the week of 1 - 6 June will be carried out a day later than normal.

Strategic Planner
(Fixed Term 12 Months)

Hauraki District Council is looking for someone with a positive can-do attitude who can step in to assist in the Strategic Planning team to cover a Parental Leave 12 month fixed term.

Part-time hours will be considered but you must be available for a minimum of 25 hours per week. We can offer you a friendly caring team environment in a workplace where we appreciate the value of work-life balance.

As the Strategic Planner you will play a key role in fulfilling the strategic and corporate planning functions of Council, ensuring the future of the Hauraki District is planned in partnership with the community. In the next year you will be instrumental in the production of the Annual Plan and Annual Report; you will need to be a good communicator and project manager, and be able to address any corporate planning issues as they arise.

A relevant tertiary qualification and experience in the key areas of strategic and corporate planning or business management is essential. Working knowledge of the Local Government Act and the ability to interpret legislation and apply it to processes and procedures will also need to be one of your strengths.
