Handy Hint
Even if a soft plastic packet is graded number 5 (like some noodles packets), it can't go in your recycling bin. It must go in the soft plastics collection bins, or failing that, your rubbish bin. Always check the plastics number on the packaging. Some numbers are hard to make out - rather than guess, use a mobile phone on the camera setting to zoom in on the number.
How is it paid for?
Only properties that receive a kerbside recycling service pay a targeted rate for recycling collections. The targeted rate covers the kerbside collection service and disposal costs.
Every property in the district pays towards the running of the Waihī and Paeroa Refuse Transfer Stations (RTS). You can recycle free of charge at these sites.
