When an Aussie based TV program contacted Council to ask if we wanted to feature one of our towns in their hit show “Country House Hunters NZ”, we said yes please! The goal is to highlight rural and provincial towns and show just what makes them special while the show follows someone looking for a local property. We wanted to highlight why Paeroa and surrounds is a great place for young families and first time home-owners.
Rebecca Jenks, our Community Development Advisor (Economic Development), worked closely with Cass, the Australian producer, on our narrative.
We get to keep a 90 second promo about Paeroa and the show, so it was a great collaboration. The weather was the only cast member not playing ball on the day! It bucketed down so hard they got washed out of one location. Luckily the film crew were able to come back two days later on a perfectly sunny day.
So, sit back, relax and join us for the viewing on Monday night - but keep a keen look out, you might spot someone you know. They've promised to be back to feature another one of our towns if they make another season, so let's get those TV ratings up - spread the word.
TV One, Monday 15 January, 7pm Tuesday's episode features Te Aroha - great nationwide exposure for our region. The NZ shows will also air overseas.
Now Paeroa's not just world famous in New Zealand. Ka pai!
