A message from Mayor Toby Adams
“Join the kōrero about what we’re proposing for the district over the next 10 years. The cost of living is high at the moment and Council’s feeling the pinch too. There’s been some tough decisions to make to keep delivering the service levels you expect. Check out what we have planned, what it costs and let us know your feedback. There’s a big focus on infrastructure projects like the $35 million upgrade to the Paeroa Wastewater Treatment Plant, essential for the environment and for future proofing growth in the district.
Water bills are also on the rise to meet the increased compliance standards for drinking water. To balance the books, we’re projecting an average cost (property and water rates) for a medium value property* to be $11.19 per day in 2024/25, the first year of the Plan. This represents a significant increase in rates for the first year of the Plan and after that it reduces down.
You can use the rates calculator on our Korero Mai| Let’s talk Hauraki website to work out how our proposed plans will affect you rates bill. We can’t control things like rising interest rates, depreciation costs and inflation, but we can work with you to find out what the compromises and expectations are for you and your communities.”
