If you live in Mackaytown, Karangahake, Waikino, or Waihī and currently receive a kerbside collection, you'll want to make note of these changes to your collection day.
Karangahake Gorge collection day
From 1 September 2023, Mackaytown, Karanghake and Waikino will be collected on a Tuesday.
Two collection days for Waihī
- Waihī will be split into two collection days. This is to accommodate our own fleet taking over Whiritoa's collection, rather than it being on the Whangamata route.
- From Monday 4 September, Waihī’s collection will be split into Zone One (Monday Collection) and Zone Two (Tuesday collection). The type of collection will be the same for the whole town, ie rubbish or recycling week.
Zone One - Collected Monday
North Waihī
- Properties on the Waihī College side of Parry Palm Ave, Seddon Street and State Highway 25.
Zone Two - Collected Tuesday
South Waihī (including East Waihī)
- Properties on the BP Service Station side of Parry Palm Ave, Seddon Street and State Highway 25.
- Retail businesses and any residential properties on both sides of Seddon Street and Rosemont Road, including Martha Street and the top end of Haszard Street and Gilmour Street.
Here’s what’s staying the same
These collection days for the following areas remain the same:
- Monday – Whiritoa
- Wednesday – Kaiaua, Waitakaruru, Ngātea, Turua, Kerepēhi
- Thursday – Paeroa
But it’s important to remember… whether your collection day has changed or stayed the same, you’ll still need to check the kerbside calendar to see if it’s your rubbish or recycling collection week. The new online kerbside calendars for November 2023 - July 2024 will be updated before the end of August.
