Number plate recognition system
We are introducing an automatic number plate recognition system at our Waihī and Paeroa Refuse Transfer Stations will make waste disposal fairer, more efficient and more sustainable for Hauraki District residents and ratepayers. Ratepayers and residents registered with our system will receive discount Gate Fees and Charges.

Changes to Refuse Transfer Station fees and charges
An increased standard Gate Fee and Charge for all users, and a discounted Gate Fee and Charge for registered Hauraki District residents and ratepayers, is being introduced from 1 December 2025.
Registered Hauraki District residents and ratepayers will continue to benefit from discounted charges, while recycling remains free when items are clean and sorted.
