Vehicle Registration for Our Refuse Transfer Stations
In-District / Out-of-District Users
From 1 December 2025 we're introducing a new system at our Refuse Transfer Stations, to enable discounted gate fees and charges for registered Hauraki District residents and ratepayers. Out-of-district users will be charged standard gate fees and charges, making it a fair and more sustainable system.
Automatic number plate recognition
An automatic number plate recognition system will start operating on the weighbridges at Waihī and Paeroa to apply the correct gate fees and charges for registered in-district or out-of-district users.
Register Your Vehicle
To make sure you’re charged correctly, you’ll need to register your vehicle number plate/s with us before visiting one of our Refuse Transfer Station. If you choose not to register, you’ll automatically pay the out-of-district gate fees and charges.
Processing time for vehicle registration
Please register three working days before visiting the Refuse Transfer Station as digital records take 48 hours to update.
