Barry Road, Waihī improvements are about to get underway

Work starts on 1 October, beginning at Kenny Street (SH25) and running 960 metres towards Golden Valley Road. The project is expected to be finished in March 2027, weather and site conditions permitting.

The work will be done in three stages.

Stage 1 covers Kenny Street to Banks Street.

During Stage 1:

• You can still enter Barry Road from Kenny Street via a one-way system.
• To leave Barry Road, head east towards Golden Valley Road and follow the signed detour via Banks Street.
• A temporary 30km/h speed limit will apply through the work area.
• Property access will be maintained wherever practical.
• Rubbish and recycling collections will continue as usual.

Please follow the signs, take care around the work site and avoid parking in the work area.

The work includes rebuilding the road, improving drainage and kerbing, and putting down a new road surface. The result will be a stronger, smoother road with better drainage for the community.

Working hours will generally be:

• Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm
• Saturday, 7am to 3pm
• Occasional Sunday works may be required.
