Did you know we're collaborating with Waikato Regional Council’s (WRC) experts in regional resilience and flood protection to develop a Climate Change Adaptation Plan for the Hauraki Plains?
It's called the Hauraki Plains Adaptation Plan or HPAP for short. We've reached an important milestone with the preparation of WRC's flood hazard modelling results and we’re keen to share them with you. As importantly, we also want to hear what flooding your property experienced in the 2017 and 2023 floods to help validate the modelling.

This project is a collaboration between HDC and WRC, the Community Panel, Hauraki Plains iwi and communities to learn more about the changes that are likely due to the impacts of climate change, which will then inform actions for increased resilience.
