Dog Control Policy and Bylaw review – plus Hauraki’s Next Top Dog

Are our dog exercise areas working well for you and your four‑legged friends? Before we review the Dog Control Policy and Bylaw, we want to hear directly from dog owners.

Have your say by completing our short dog exercise areas survey. You can also enter Hauraki’s Next Top Dog photo competition – we’re on the hunt for a local pooch to become the face of dog‑related news in the district.

Funding and grants

We have a range of grants available to support community groups and individuals across the district. If you’ve got an idea that brings people together, builds pride, or adds something special to Hauraki, now’s the perfect time to apply.

Creative Communities Scheme – Round 2 (2025/26)

Have an idea that brings people together through creativity? The Creative Communities Scheme supports local arts and cultural projects that encourage participation, celebrate local stories, and strengthen community connections.

Round 2 funding is now open for projects running between 1 April 2026 and 30 March 2027.

Public Arts Fund

Art plays an important role in making our public spaces interesting, welcoming, and full of life. The Public Arts Fund supports creative and meaningful community art – from murals and sculptures to mosaics and integrated urban design.

If your idea brings public spaces to life, celebrates local culture, or connects communities, we’d love to hear about it.

Applications close: 9.00am, Monday 16 March 2026

Community Development Grant

Let’s grow great things in Hauraki

This grant supports projects that strengthen business connections, build community pride, or help make our towns even more vibrant. Funding is available for community groups with ideas that make a positive difference locally.

Applications are assessed as funding becomes available, so getting in early is encouraged.

Key dates:

Applications close: 1 May 2026 (or earlier if funds are exhausted)

Assessment dates: 31 March 2026 and 26 May 2026 (if funds remain)
